Magnum is the bull we have been looking for! Excellent structure, muscling, cosmetics, milk and EBV's set this sire in good stead to be a real breed improver. He has a Milk figure of +22, EMA of +4.6 and RBY of +1.9. At 21 months he scanned 134 sq.cms EMA and weighed over 1000kgs. Purchased in partnership with Glendan Park H S he topped the Cootharaba 2007 Sale at $42,000. His first calves are everything we had hoped for. One of his first sons Mawarra Vice Admiral, epitomizes what we thought this powerful sire could achieve for us, he is being used in leading herds throughout Australian and internationally. We are very excited about the influence that Magnum and Vice Admiral will have on our herd. Magnum's first 13 sons sold at Mawarra in 2010 and have recorded an impressive average of $9,462. These included $40,000 Hereford National Junior & Grand Champion & top seller Virginian, $15,000 Reserve Junior Champion Valiant, & $11,000 Class winner Valen. Talbalba Valiant Sire: Foxforth Valuable Dam: Talbalba Cherry Ripe 61 |
We purchased
Valiant
at the 2008 Southern Cross Sale in September for the top price of $22,000.
We found the Foxforth Valuable daughters at Talbalba to be very feminine
with excellent udders and cosmetics. The Reid Family regard Cherry Ripe
61 as their best Grand National daughter. A big, soft, easy doing young
sire with impressive daily gain, sound structure and balance his EBV's
complete the package and we are very pleased with the influence of his
outcross genetics in our herd. His first progeny, as calves at foot, will
be offered as part of our Foundation Female Feature in 2010. His first
sons will be offered at our 2011 Sale.

Mawarra Trail Blazer Sire: GH Neon 17N Dam: Mawarra Minerva 554 |
Trail Blazer was described as "...a wonderful bull of any breed." by judge Alastair Day, Allendale Poll Hereford Stud, after he decorated him with the Grand Champion Sash at the Hereford National Show & Sale in Wodonga in May 2008. Purchased for $48,000 by Glenwarrah H S and Wandoo Wandong Herefords, this young sire attracted much attention. His dappled coat covers a heavily muscled hind quarter; at age 26 months he weighed in at 1106kgs with a raw EMA of 136sq.cms. and scanned only 13/9 fat depth. Minerva 554 is a young Kahlua cow following in the footsteps of her dam, Minerva 357, who is our highest performing breeder. Trail Blazer's first daughters were offered in the Buyers Choice "Pen of 3" Complete Autumn '09 Drop offering at our Foundation Female Feature at our Annual Sale in 2010 Lots 208B, & 210A were selected for $2,500 each. Mawarra Sandstorm Sire: Wabash Sandstone 200L Dam: Mawarra Doreen 79 |
Sandstorm was sold for $52,000 at the Hereford National in 2007. He was purchased by Ardno and Newcomen Hereford Studs after being awarded Reserve Grand Champion. Semen interests have been sold throughout Australia and to New Zealand. His first calves at Mawarra show great promise, we have a magnificent line of young heifers. His daughters will be included in the Buyers Choice "Pen of 3" Complete Autumn '09 Drop offering at our Foundation Female Feature at our Annual Sale in 2010, see Lots 207A & 208A. Mawarra Sentimental Sire: Yallaroo Tornado Dam: Mawarra Miss Titania 123 |
Sentimental was purchased by South Boorook Hereford Stud for $24,000 at the Hereford National 2007. Their recent Sale saw his first nine sons sell to the Sale top of $22,000 and record an average of $7,333. Sentimental is breeding with the consistency of type, carcase and growth for age that we see in his full brother, Mawarra Nostalgia. Sentimental's first calves at Mawarra are certainly displaying these attributes. His first three sons sold at our 2010 sale and averaged $4,333 they included $7,000 Lot 14 Vacate. His daughter, Lot 207A in our Buyers Choice "Pen of Three" Complete Autumn '09 Drop offering at our Foundation Female Feature Sale, was selected for $2,500. He was represented by two sons in our team for the Hereford National $16,000 Van Dieman & $15,000 Victorious. At the conclusion of this sale his five sons sold at Mawarra had averaged $8,800. Another Sentimental son, exhibited at the National by Jacinta Pretty, Jacandra H S was awarded Reserve Senior Champion and sold for $13,000. |
Mawarra Standout Sire: Mawarra Nostalgia Dam: Mawarra Minerva 259 |
With the strength of breeding behind this young sire we didn't hesitate to use him in our herd. Nostalgia and Minerva 259 have bred a consistent line of quality progeny which have gone on to breed and perform at Mawarra and elsewhere (see links to both sire & dam). The maternal strength of this sires pedigree is impeccable, and it is no surprise that we have retained him to breed females. Minerva 298 is the mother of Kahlua, his daughters are our best cows. A big powerful Nostalgia son, Rip Snorta combines two strong family lines in his pedigree. Rip Snorta's full sister, Virginia 127, was the best heifer of her drop. Virginia 93 is a donor dam in our ET program and we had two excellent sons by M. River Boy in 2009 who sold for $8,500 and $7,000 respectively. Rip Snorta's first sons were offered as Lot 50 & Lot 58 in our 2008 sale, he also had a son Top Trade in our Wodonga Team the same year who sold for $11,000. His was represented by two sons at our 2009 Sale, Lots 58 Universe and Lot 62 Upstream. is out of one of Grant Hirsche's premier Donor Dams, the very successful
GH Sydney 809 ET 59M. On inspection Sydney, her daughters and maternal

Mawarra Nostalgia Sire: Yallaroo Tornado Dam: M. Miss Titania 123 |
Nostalgia
is a bull that has contributed significantly to the Hereford breed. Supreme
Hereford Exhibit & member of the winning Hordern Trophy team at the
2004 Sydney Royal Show, Nostalgia sold at auction for $60,000 to the Fraser
Family's Red Hill Hereford Stud. Backing up at Sydney Royal Red Hill H
S took out the Sires Progeny Group with progeny of Nostalgia on three occassions.
They have been awarded the Sires Progeny Group at Melbourne Royal in 2006
& 2007 as well. At their first production sale in 2008 thirteen Nostalgia
sons sold to the top price of $40,000 for an average of $9,885.
Nostalgia is breeding with the quality & consistency that his genetics suggested. He is a Trait Leader for 200wt, 400wt, 600wt & IMF. We are delighted with his progeny at Mawarra, they consistently reflect the traits above, evenness of type & true Hereford cosmetics. His first daughter, Last Day 225, sold at 12 mths to Princeton H S for $5,500 at auction. Kahlua was a bull with outstanding carcase qualities combined with performance, structural soundness and the ability to show himself off with real class. He is a sire of whom we think very highly, he has had a very significant influence in our breeding herd. He is a Trait Leader for 200wt, 400wt, 600wt & RBY and his Cwt EBV's are in the top 5% of the breed. Kahlua was purchased at Sydney Royal 2001 by Mr. A Hawker for $16,000, we retained a share. Mawarra have sold 7 sons at the Hereford National in Wodonga & 27 on property to $10,250 for an average of $4956. We used one son, Norway, over heifers before selling him as the top priced bull at our 2003 on property sale. At Sydney Royal 2004 a Kahlua daughter M. Minerva 586 was top selling Hereford Female at $7,000 & two daughters exhibited by Strathvalley Herefords were awarded Junior & Reserve Junior Champions. In 2006 Strathvalley H S won Junior Champion Poll Hereford Female with another daughter. We considered his daughters at Mawarra our best cows they had near perfect udders and were very consistent breeders. His daughters have sold sons to $11,000. Master Builder combines the Trait Leading sire Jabiru with one of our best families, Miss Titania. M. Miss Titania 121 is a full sister to Miss Titania 123, dam of M. Nostalgia. With the strength of Master Builder's maternal line we didn't hesitate to use him in our herd. His progeny have certainly met our expectations, his sons have amassed a gross in excess of $142,000. M. Playstation was the top priced lot at our 2005 on property sale, he was purchased by Mr. A. Trethowan for $14,000. Lot 25 at our 2007 sale sold for $11,000 to Mr. A. Chomley, Fulham. The Foster Family, Casterton purchased Lot 30 for $8,000. A Master Builder daughter, M. Minerva 598, was awarded Grand Champion Female at the Wodonga National 2004 and sold to the Fraser family's Red Hill H S for $6,500. Nine of his daughters have sold for an average of $3833. We currently have 10 daughters retained. Master Builder was represented in 2009 by five sons including Lot 57 Ultra, and two daughters, Lot 71 Last Day 224 & Lot 86 Cherry Ripe 282. Rawhide was sold to Glendan Park Hereford Stud at Wodonga National 2006 for the second top price of $35,000, they are very happy with his progeny. Rawhide is much like his sire & his dam, M. Minerva 396. Minerva 396 has sold three sons to $9000 including a good Power Surge bull, Thunderbolt, who sold for $8,000 at our 2008 sale. We have also used her as a donor dam in our ET program. Rawhide's first sons at Mawarra were offered as Lot 5 Underline, Lot 8 Upstart, Lot 15 Unruly, Lot 30 Ultimo, Lot 52 Upright, Lot 54 Unthink-a-bull & Lot 55 Unravelled. GH Neon 17N is an outcross sire with tremendous carcase and performance. We are really impressed with the extra thickness and weight for age his progeny display. His calves have a low birth weight and grow out really well, he is a Trait Leader for GL, 200wt, 400wt, 600wt & IMF. A Neon son, Rambo, was the number one carcase bull in North America in 2005 and Grant Hirsche sold a half share in the young sire for $135,000 (CAN). In our 35th Annual Sale he was represented by four sons; Lot 6 The Man, Lot 7 Turn Out, Lot 17 Trigger & Lot 53 Timeline. His son, Mawarra Trail Blazer, was awarded Grand Champion at Wodonga 2008 and sold for $48,000 to Glenwarrah H S & Wandong Herefords. In 2009 Trail Blazer's full brother Mawarra Unique repeated the feat winning Grand Champion and selling to Yarram Park H S & Cara Park H S for $32,000. Another son, Mawarra Undefeated, was awarded Reserve Senior Champion and sold for $15,000 to Mr T Laurie, Uralla. Neon's 8 sons at Mawarra have grossed $132,000 at an average of $16,500. His son Vice Regal a full brother to Trail Blazer and Unique, won his class at the Wodonga Hereford National in May & sold to Franco H S for $21,000, the second top price of the sale. Mawarra Rising Star Sire: Widgiewa Jabiru ET6 Dam: M. Minerva 357 |
Rising Star was purchased for $16,000 by the McRae Family, Hawkesdale at Wodonga 2006 after he was awarded Reserve Senior Champion. He weighed an impressive 1150kgs, scanned 140sq.cms EMA, his scrotal circumference measured 44cms and he stood a frame 8. Minerva 357 is one of our most successful breeders, her combined progeny have sold to date for a gross in excess of $87,500. Rising Star's first son to be offered at Mawarra was Lot 11 Ulysses, he was purchased for $8,000 by the Turner Family, Bindi. His second son, Unrivalled, was in our team for the Hereford National. He came third in his class and sold to Foxforth H S for $16,000. |

Hercules was one of our first Lawful sons. His strong maternal line and sires performance resulted in us retaining him as stud sire. Tornado is a structurally sound bull with tremendous carcase attributes, evident in his Trait Leading EBV's for 400wt, 600wt & IMF. Sire of the $60,000 Sydney Royal 2004 Supreme Exhibit & Sale Topper, Mawarra Nostalgia, his sons sold at our on property sales have topped at $18,000, M. Solid Gold A227 in 2007. One of his sons, M. Rural Lad topped our 2006 sale at $16,000. He had an exceptional son, a full brother to M. Nostalgia, Mawarra Sentimental, who sold to South Boorook H S for $24,000 at Wodonga 2007. His daughter, M. Miss Titania 336, sold for an Australian Record for a five month old Hereford heifer at auction, $7,500. We purchased Rockford for $11,500 at Wodonga National 2001. With his great weight for age, 131sq. cm. EMA, sound structure, natural lift & muscling we felt he had a part to play in our program. His progeny reflect his fantastic temperament, perfect feet & muscling. His first son to go to Wodonga, M. Oasis was Intermediate Champion 2004 & sold to Ardno H S for $16,000. His sons at Ardno have topped their Annual Sale three out of the last four years, selling to $22,000. Another Rockford son M. Phallus was purchased by Mr G Marshall, Wodonga 2005 for $6,500. The top selling joined heifer in 2005 was a Rockford daughter she sold for $5,250 to Congou Poll H S, Cootamundra. Four Rockford sons,sold in 2007, went to return buyers, the Webb Family, Kobyboyn purchased two to a top of $5,500; Lot 27 sold for $5,500 to Mr. & Mrs. G. Moon, Wulgulmerang. Lot 12 was purchased by the Marshall Family, Orbost for $3,500. In 2009 he was represented by another son at the Wodonga National, Utopia, a full brother to Oasis and Phallus. Utopia won his class and sold for $10,000 to Mr K Ingram, Bonang. Rockfords 26 sons have sold for an average of $4,490. Debonair
206 was purchased as an outcross sire for $23,000; top price at the
Reedy Creek 2005 on property sale. He weighed 1040kgs at 21 months with
a raw EMA of 134sq. cms. He is an extremely easy doing bull; made evident
to us after we put him with forty cows, in what could only be described
as an average season, and he came out of them heavier than when he went
in. His first progeny sold at Mawarra were two beautiful heifers offered
as Buyers Choice Lots 57a and 57b
in our 2007 catalogue.
His first son, offered at our 2008 sale, Lot 29 Top of the Drop did just that!, he topped the sale at $12,000 purchased by Greg O'Brien, Mansfield. Other sons offered included; Lot 33 Top Dog, Lot 46 Tyrone, Lot 49 Try Me and Lot 51 Treaty. After our 2009 Sale, in which he was represented by nine sons including Lot 7 Uncanny, Lot 25 Undertaker, Lot 61 Universal, and Lot 64 Utter, his 15 sons sold had averaged $3,800. |

Minerva 549 is a beautiful Kahlua daughter by our renowned old breeder Minerva 259. Lawful has proved to be one of our most influential sires. Purchased in 1994 for $21,000, his progeny display his performance and quality with 72 sons being sold at Mawarra for a gross of $312,650 and an average of $4342. His highest priced son, Maverick, was used successfully by us before being sold for $11,000 at Wodonga to Stanbury Past. Co. Lawful's sons performed very well across the commercial herds they were used with many clients returning to purchase multiple sons. He is in the top 5% of the breed for GL, top 10% CEDtrs, Rib, Rump & IMF, top 20% BW and Milk. We retained his son, Hercules, as stud sire and he continued Lawful's legacy of consistant breeding of both bulls and females.We still have 8 Lawful daughters active in herd and many grand daughters. Sandstone's first three sons were offered at Mawarra in 2006 & topped at $7,500 for an average of $5,583. Six daughters are currently retained. An impressive son, Mawarra Sandstorm, was sold for the top price of $52,000 at the Wodonga National in May, 2007.
